Spring Time

In the spring a young man's fancy turns to love but a cat's fancy turns to MICE.  They are plentiful when the snow starts to melt and the house cat is so happy to be out chasing them.  Unfortunately he likes to brag, and to do that its best if we can see his successes.  good thing we're not squeamish.

warm and dry

Seymour avoiding eye contact

Last winter someone dropped a pregnant cat at the end of the driveway.  I guess they thought a place called "Kitty City" would be the perfect place for her.  She subsequently gave birth to six kittens and we managed to find good homes for them.  It just wrenches at your heart to know how cruel some people can be to animals.  Poor Mama Kitty was left out in the cold to fend for herself.  Luckily she was found and saved, but by that time she was very skinny and very hungry.  Also very scared.  It took quite a bit of coaxing to get her to come where it was warm and dry.
I hope everyone will think twice about getting a pet if there is a chance that it won't be cared for.  It is a lifetime commitment.  We have cats here that are fifteen to twenty years old, and a few even older than that.

Winter blahs

Things tend to slow down a bit in mid winter.  Christmas is over, everybody is settling back into thier routines.  The cats at Kitty City tend to sleep more in the cold weather.  It's a good thing too, since the people are busy shovelling snow and trying to keep warm.  Of course, the snow blower chose this time to break down and spent most of January (the time when blizzards were prevalant) in the snowblower hospital.  There was two feet of the white stuff in the driveway, and it all had to be cleared so the customer's could come in.
We have number of long term visitors this winter (staying a month or more) including the kittens, Cali and Rupert, Cleo, Millie, and Sissie to name a few.  They are all settled in and getting to be good friends.
