Winter blahs

Things tend to slow down a bit in mid winter.  Christmas is over, everybody is settling back into thier routines.  The cats at Kitty City tend to sleep more in the cold weather.  It's a good thing too, since the people are busy shovelling snow and trying to keep warm.  Of course, the snow blower chose this time to break down and spent most of January (the time when blizzards were prevalant) in the snowblower hospital.  There was two feet of the white stuff in the driveway, and it all had to be cleared so the customer's could come in. 

We have number of long term visitors this winter (staying a month or more) including the kittens, Cali and Rupert, Cleo, Millie, and Sissie to name a few.  They are all settled in and getting to be good friends.

All animals age differently than humans.  They are only babies for a short time and their live span is much shorter.  Do you want to know how old your kitty is in human years?

these three little girls were guests for over a month and quickly became great favourites.  It was quite difficult to get them to sit still long enough for a picture.  First they had to run around and exhaust themselves.  Luckily there is a lot of space for them at Kitty city.  There are ladders to climb, posts to scratch and toys to chase.

This is the time for catching up.  It is so cold, (minus 30 this morning) the kitties hardly open their eyes to acknowledge their care giver.  Petting is nice, but snuggling under the blankets is better.  In fact I agree with them, but now is not the time for resting.  This is the time for doing a pre Christmas cleaning, and maybe a little refurbishing. 
Throw out the old blankets and get some nice new fluffy ones.  Put up the Christmas lights and turn on the Christmas music.  The kitties love it. 
December is right around the corner and that is a very busy time here.  There might be as many as fifty or sixty cats in residence at one time.  Some are shy, and some are outgoing, but all need feeding, cleaning up after and their own "loving" time. 

Comfy cat

This is a very comfortable cat.  He has made himself at home in a pile of newly washed towels.  Undoubtedetly they are warm from the dryer.

Cats visiting Kitty City soon make themselves at home.  They realize that it is all about them and their comfort.
